As Beyoncé said, “This is for the 30-somethings that didn’t turn out exactly how mom and dad wanted you to be.” Convenience Store Woman is the deadpan tale of one woman’s happy life in a simple occupation before conformity-obsessed friends, family members, and strangers pressure her into confusion and despair. Will she find her way back, or will she end up a sandcastle, washed away by the current of conventionality. Before diving into this dry humor, we discuss if anyone can indeed find happiness and fulfillment in their job.

00:00:00 Recognizing at a tender age. She wasn’t quite like other children a young girl grows up to find comfort and normalcy in the regulated world of a convenience store and stays for 18 years unaware of her family and friends desire to see her move on and start a more traditional life the woman cake off the book convenience store woman and you’re listening to let Society look at your non-conforming.

00:00:44 5 meters, this is Kyrie. No, it’s not.

00:00:57 Maranatha yeah, I skipped right over my name and went to your name.

00:01:05 Way what am I saying? This is Kyrie 4 real that was looking at you saying I hired a nevermind. I’m not explaining nothing else to you. Okay. This is this is the morning can’t be asking people to use a praying mantis hours for where are you? Alright Kyrie. So I’m on to my question that I like to ask you. What did you do for fun this week or and or one thing you did for self-care a couple things are fun this week that I also feel like we’re part of some self-care. I’ll take three things. First of all, I bought a home about a whole bunch of oils that I’m going to use for my skin regimen at night and cry and I have a new regimen based on a YouTuber whose name. I don’t remember but it involves a lot of Tony.

00:02:05 I decided to stop being cheap. Although I am still using baking soda as a face scrub cuz Queen Latifah says she did that like what I was a little girl and I was like, well, that’s what I’m going to do cuz Cleveland and so I’m still look great. I think so. But what does that do? I have not heard yet. So it is 1 / baking soda three parts water and sugar face scrub and you can just rub that into your face for 30 minutes for 30 seconds to a full minutes. I’m already been a little longer. If you want being careful not to cause like any breaks in the skin. You don’t want to be rubbing that hard but it’s a powder is a coarse powder. And so that’s better for you than like Walnut pieces that were in the st. Ives scrubs that were popular when we were almost sounds too for you. I’m not true for me to say I’m your face up which I get because then your face has to heal itself itself in those new cells are younger looking but long story short I bought some oils for my

00:03:05 Can and I’m going to try a new skin care regimen which I’m excited about. I also picked up salt fat acid heat what you can see here.

00:03:16 This is a lot of words. So I’m really nervous. Don’t be nervous. Don’t be nervous that it’s more fun. It’s more fun that again. It’s fun. Yeah, well looks cool. So I’m excited about that. Thank you for pushing me to read outside of my comfort zone and this really is like a huge novel of a book. I hope it’s a recipe in it. They say it’s a cookbook. I seen a recipes but a hum and then lastly add Jonathan audio bass social media platform who doesn’t pay us, so I’m not going to mention them by name but I’ve been I’m listening to a few seminars that I found very helpful for her marketing real estate and podcasting things. I’m interested in pretty cool and I’m a host a how to start a podcast seminar on there in the near future. So stay tuned. What about you? What have you done for fun?

00:04:05 And what have you done for self-care this week? Okay. Well, you know, I like the grocery store. Did you know I really enjoy the grocery store so I know that while I did not go but I did order online and I spent $100 but I haven’t been grocery shopping like that. So this is like a built-up ghetto need to be in the grocery store kind of shopping and I got a few things so I can try a couple new dishes and I’ve been trying vegan cheeses. So I I tried you know that recipe that’s been hitting their the internal. Yeah. Yeah, you send me photos. It looks amazing. It’s like a plan. I found cheese feta cheese with tomatoes and throwing some pasta I did that and I did it with vegan vegan cheese vegan feta, but now I’m going to do it with

00:05:05 Regular fat ass in the regular pasta. So I’m looking forward to making that in a couple of the new dishes that I want to try. And then the thing I did for self-care is a have went to bed at 8:45 when I tell you I slept so well slept really well for you girl reminds me of a saying a friend of ours told us to remind me of is to Steel stock your home with enough food to last you at least a week. So they’ll Staples like a chicken broth vegetable broth, maybe tomato paste that you can use to make large dishes and then freeze them because we don’t know what the future holds so, you know, if we’re ever stuck again and people are rushing out to the supermarket we can make sure we have toilet paper and food and I’ll be caught off-guard again. So I love that about you. You always stay prepared. Thank you.

00:06:05 Now it’s time for society says where we share your comments with the rest of our lives Society Curry. Is there a comment you thought particularly let absolutely Alexis this week. 00:06:48 Call Patty I appreciate that but I realize you act like I like for real for real. I love it. I love it. Thank you so much. That makes me feel getting this is from our along great River episode where we were honored to interview the author Lismore. What about you Alexis? Did you have a, you like to share I do I do this is fried apple pie cast and the Communists from Grand bear. They said I’ve tried a few book podcast. And this is by far the best one. 00:07:48 I remember readers to have your comments shared messages on Twitter Instagram Facebook or and we especially love it. When you do this leave us a review on Apple podcast each week readers with Alexa thing to discuss inspired by the book that were reading this week’s theme is do you love what you do? Do you do you remember your first job? Yes. Popeye’s chicken pot pies. What I was thinking I was thinking your first job when you were waiting tables. I can’t think of the name of the restaurant but now I do remember Popeye’s Chicken what made you work at Popeye’s Chicken. I wanted a job. I wanted my own money and a friend of ours is like I can get you in at Popeye’s and they did and it was the most bizarre job I’ve ever had them.

00:08:48 Say what’s up in the lobby? When okay, so I worked walking distance from my home, but they would like pressure you into working. So late the shop to teach me to be always willing to lose your appointment for your standards. For real for real. That’s what my job made me my job. Maybe know you agreed to it because you succumb to the pressure of whatever your job asks, you know put on you so they would probably give me the word really really late. I’m some of the managers had a problem who can I say this about a chain will it was true? They were flirtatious. That’s very common why I’ve never worked in fast food, but I think that’s very common in the workforce. Oh, yeah, well shirt and one co-worker, they even like touched her so

00:09:48 She liked what she was great, or they would steal from you and tell you your drawer was short.

00:10:00 Wow, okay back to the fact that I work clothes, but because I will work so late. I asked my manager a woman to take me home one day and she was like sure for real. I live so close. Why not? She passed my house went past my hood to a gas station whenever you what used to be whenever you saw kids riding bikes. I hope I’m not making it hot at the gas station late at night. They were selling drugs. Why did she drive past your house and your neighborhood also a little thing second locations in general are like eBay kids know never to go to the second location. Hey, we’re trying to tie this into everyday life. If you get kidnapped never try try your best never to go to the second location make a scene wherever they trying to pick you up at Fallout, you know, like

00:11:00 You got to do to not go to a second location, but this manager pulled up to a gas station with a a little boy on a bike is probably midnight. She asked for somebody he was like, yeah, but you got to follow me to this house.

00:11:15 So I’m like 15 16. I’m like not a second location.

00:11:21 I thought you had already saw 3/4 mile road to the house. How was your old was your manager though? Everybody 40. Yeah, you know, I was 25 or something. She said she bought her drugs then drove back to my neighborhood, which was where the Popeyes was to drop me off at home. It was why did she tell you she taking you to she would have told me I don’t want kidnapped Jason. I was the dummy that should have got out the car instead of going to a second location and she took you so you could be her support. I don’t know what that was after seeing what that was but looking back that job was crazy. Wow, and now we made the best chicken in the world so you can take with you. I never got the second Popeyes.

00:12:21 No.

00:12:24 I’m not messika Popeyes. Did that job have any impact on what you do now saving money. I remember my first check maybe was 150 or something. They even it.

00:12:45 At first I was like I’m never going to cash this and then I was like, I’m not even a Sentimental person in this is money. So that’s a dumb tax. I never forget you frame it after I guess it. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I’m for real people work fast food because they have to I was just doing it to have money for like makeup and sweaters, you know entering the workforce or whatever. I just wanted to work always wanted to work. Okay. So let them fast forward to when you start working in high school a real jobs. I’m not even though I’m sorry. I’ll answer that. I’m to your profession that you do today. What is your butt was your first start there?

00:13:44 Stop in college. I started working as a exact for Visa Mastercard processing for Fifth Third Bank Fifth Third that division was bought out by another bank. So I went to work and mortgage supervising for Wells Fargo for a Washington Mutual that’s was like when all the banks were being gobbled up so that you have was also desire Wells Fargo bought it our division cap. Some people I was one of the people kept but I just felt like this is going to end soon. So I moved to Chicago and started working for Swedish company and then they started laying people off you guys is not my fault and I’ll fortunately I was married to someone who is what I was office manager at the time then and that’s not what I wanted to do. That’s not even my skillset as we learned in that quiz. You made me take ya.

00:14:44 Getting serious about writing freelance. And so I started copywriting work freelance. I would find people are assigned clients through. How did I do that?

00:14:58 I wish I could State some sources resources. I mean I did do some things on Fiverr, but that’s just the money wasn’t big enough and then he lands I think her up work one of them. And so then I started to listen bigger projects using what I had already written to build my portfolio. I started writing packaging copy still freelance in the problem with freelance is tax. And also you’re chasing your money. So it’s hard when you start out to tell people you got to pay upfront cuz they’re like, please you should be happy to get this job and inside you like I am but also I need money. Do you like chasing money as much as your writing and that for Creative career is distracting.

00:15:45 Cuz you is you lose motivation when you know that ain’t even going to pay you and stuff. So that’s a possibility.

00:15:53 But I did that for five years. I had a Blog Chicago in Chicago going and Westbrook out loud even the other day.

00:16:04 And then I began working for how do you say like a temp agency copywriter for a different companies? And then I was picked up by.

00:16:23 I forgot the name of that company. It’s big to Meredith. I think but they do they do like Home magazine Home and Garden magazines and stuff. They’re like the Big Brand behind all of those exactly. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, but you can also hire a division to do your copywriting which is what crafted okay billion company and they became Kraft Heinz and got rid of their contractors, which is normal. You know that when your contractor leg you going to be the first to go and now I got rid of my Home Depot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah contractors and marketing both what I do, so I’m always at 6 comes with the job and then I settled where I am now and I’ve been there for been here for five years they so

00:17:23 Not so much the company you work for the but the work that you do. Do you love the work that you do? Yes, I do. And at what what made you come to love it? How did you get there? Just having something that I’m good at and that I can get better at so just feeling very competent in my role and then I’m receiving consistent training that makes me better and learning from mentors as far as writing is concerned. I remember sitting at a table with a shaft. I’m during a press event and I was telling him about something I was working on a he was like, well, you know, he was trying to tell me you might not know who I am, but I’m a big deal.

00:18:11 you can just send me your riding and I’ll take a look at it and I was like

00:18:18 You know and that’s a stereotype but you know for a established old white man to tell you that he’ll seriously look at your probably mediocre work. That’s really unexpected. It’s a big deal, but it was definitely unexpected and yet it is a big deal you write a kind thing to do. So, yeah, I really am grateful for the people who took time with me when they didn’t have to do that. I really that’s really good and I’m glad to hear that you like the work that you do that’s a big deal. Cuz a lot of times, you know, people are in jobs that they don’t

00:18:59 Actually enjoy doing it but they’re doing them to satisfy and I for one and one of those people I don’t necessarily enjoy what I do and I learned that last year as the the language is I wasn’t living in my truth and that was a big deal. And now I Spy the living my Truth at some point but there’s no shame to work in the make money. That’s why we work. You have to always find happiness in what you do. I know that’s the goal for a lot of people but I think the goal should be to make money. So that’s at my I told me at a young age. She said if you going to do something for 8 hours you might as well enjoy it. So and I’ve I’ve I’ve had that you know this kind of

00:19:59 Play things that I had with me throughout life is that I did that I should enjoy what I do and do but I do understand the idea of making money. I can make that adjustment, you know, I can learn to do the work and cuz there’s some aspects about the job that I do appreciate you know that otherwise if I didn’t I would just stop and move on. You know what I mean? Yeah. I have their say you work with the group. One thing about Freelancers. You don’t have peers to learn from even on co-workers. You might not get along with I’ve often found that I can still learn something from the people. I’m working with that might not like 80% of their personality but 20% I can actually make my own skill-set, you know, maybe they’re huge Sickler’s when it comes to details. I grow more like that to them things like that. You certainly can learn something no matter what

00:20:59 Where you are in life, if you’re unhappy in your job, you can learn to pull something of value from that your day is not wasted and I thoroughly believe that I remember when I was in high school. I wanted to be a carpenter. I wanted to go through carpentry classes. I went to a technical school and I was really excited about the work that we did in the the shop classes. I was just feel like I came alive there, but I went to talk to my grandmother about my grandmother. I want to do this. I want to go into carpentry and make this a job for myself and she was like girl you don’t listen here young lady you what you need to do is go to secretarial school because that is what women do that’s what she told me. She said a man from like the Mad Men era.

00:21:59 Yes, that’s secretaries and teachers and then that was put on me continuously by other family members cannot do carpentry if you want or whatever exactly exactly. But I listen to my listen to my grandmother. And so that’s where that not living in your truth as because what happened is I follow with my grandmother said and it was always look the city has this Tesco take it the state has this test go take it. And so I’m trying to jump in line. I whip this I’m adults are suggesting that is the best career goal for me and I’m trying to follow that and so I’ve tried to follow that all my life and I feel like I’ve never been quite successful at it is just something that I do when I have course, I do the best that I I can add it to be the most unsuccessful. I can be in those roles but is there was no

00:22:59 Randy brochu passion Associated wedding night and I always feel like that. I’m missing that one piece because I’ve never felt like I’m at my full potential. So you’ve been told that you know, if you’re going to do something all day should be something I’m like girl. You got a professional job in La you need to call.

00:23:23 Send as a friend as I have been but on this show. I feel like I can finally tell you how I really feel like this has been saying this for a while now. It is top-of-mind it mean when you know, one of the jobs that you see a leg, you know, Joan on girlfriends and some don’t know. I’m okay. Okay, and you know, she’s making the monies, but she says she wants to find happiness and work in your happiness.

00:24:04 I would take a little less happiness to make a little more money. I’m not that way.

00:24:11 Passionate about something or I remember riding and it hurting in half of the project and the customer being like, you know, I was talking to my uncle who ain’t even in the business and he said that so I would like to change everything.

00:24:30 Say something about his life. So you never know that construction worker Uncle might not be living in his truth and marketing might have been his thing. You didn’t let me walk until construction site and tell them what they need to do because that’s my passion for get out of here. We are by the vistas. I hate it when people do that or even with this podcast sometimes like this morning, we’re both subs have a job and you enjoy it but you’re not a static feeling it and that’s fine. And that’s an ad again. That’s okay. That’s okay because you can adapt right and you yeah find the good and the things that you do, so you’re just and when you stop finding the good in the things you do, then you switch jobs, right? You make the move I believe in that I believe in that so the whole thing is

00:25:31 The whole thing is Alexis want to try to find your purpose in life and your job and I’m here to tell you that ain’t never going to happen. I don’t care if you got up early and go forth. Kyrie go forth. What were you going to say? Never go have little thank you for filament should ever be tied to your career. You can lose jobs jobs can come and go the economy can be very volatile who you are and the Value Place on the work you do your work and your job is not the same your work is the skill set that you have and how you translate that skill-set into output, but your job is just where you’re doing that right now so never candles should those two things. I become synonymous for us. So I work in our job. I can truly truly appreciate what you’re saying on my job doesn’t identify me. I am not

00:26:31 This work that I do I’ll have several sources.

00:26:43 So let’s cut this conversation show you making me nervous.

00:26:49 friends friends and readers the point is

00:26:55 Don’t tell on her please I need this job.

00:27:02 Bad, that’s not what I’m saying. I tried y’all saw me trying to read my mind that thing is that you can look out. So there’s always room for a sigh sigh things to do. And so that’s what I do. I have been able to step up so when my 95 and technically 925, you know are called when you don’t have no idea when that end I can do other things that befell me and and that’s a point. So even though that was told to me at a tender age and it was ingrained in me that I need to love the work that I do. I realized in my life that I don’t but if once I start losing I’m going to say momentum or joy in the actual work that I do deny. I think it’s time to move on. I truly believe that her job everyday is to put one patch on a pair of jeans.

00:28:02 And you do this for 800 jeans a day. You are never like maybe maybe on the surface. That’s not a job that someone would find enjoyment with but no mentum. But yeah, your attitude can maybe you can make a game out of it in your head or something like that to find the momentum. You need of the joy you need attitude can be everything. Maybe you work at a convenience store and everyone’s like why you still work at 7-Eleven your 35 and you like but I’m good at it. I’m good at it wrong with that. I believe there is nothing wrong with that horrible. It’s my normal to be that humble and to be in it just for the money. Listen to me. You’re obviously that’s all I care. I don’t believe that you see there these two different viewpoints in that’s okay.

00:29:02 Okay, cuz I definitely feel like once you and you can only do so much and when you’re at a breaking point, it’s time to go. That’s all I really believe that and so do the best you can at whatever job you have. Where do you working at Popeye’s chicken or whatever or the convenience store do the best job you have because there’s always something you can learn from that job and then seek out other ways to satisfy. That is Jordan in that passion and being raised to be inspired and do the things that make you passionate. So in the end you don’t necessarily have to love the job, you know, the expression goes if you if you loved or if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. Yeah. I heard that do believe it though.

00:29:59 You can love what you do and it feel like work. But are you getting paid though? Then shut up. How many people want money? And yes, okay. I appreciate my job. I value my job. Is that what you want to hear me saying? I like at work like I’m so unfulfilled.

00:30:24 OK Google

00:30:29 Where is the season 2 coming to your office to help you bring y’all don’t listen to Alexis. She have an early life crisis. I do like that a personality test you sent where you at home. See your skills laid out. I mean, I would have loved to have done that and then tried to find a career in line with those skills early on then maybe I wouldn’t end up at Popeye’s or whatever. I was like 15 in like high school middle school, you know early on that or even the strength thing even though you can develop them as you go along but you guys they changed right? Yeah, you can still take that may be in high school you like your you start pursuing a major and wasting our money and then your credits don’t even transfer cuz you want to do something completely different. Yeah. That’s it. That’s it. Was that clear? Do I need to wrap something up some more with a boy had a good time.

00:31:29 Okay. Well, let’s take a quick break folks as share your thoughts. We love to hear from you and your friends show. You think you need to be to use a codename know when you comment if you can find it so Instagram if you comment on Facebook, we ain’t never go see it. We already told you I will be will be over there off of Twitter is great, but will find you don’t worry share share your thoughts with us. Okay. We love to hear from you. And I that know we’re going to take a quick break.

00:32:14 Hey, Google. Can you give us some context and background on our authors the Yakima Radha? Yes, I can morning inside Japan in 1979 as she was raised mostly in Tokyo. I think that her family moved there when she was like a middle school. I say yaka is a I’ll have you looked up some stuff on her to I have a half cool. Okay. Okay. Thank you. So she’s like a realistic version of today’s protagonist differences. For example, her mother actually nurtured her Pat her pass and so after I’m so yoga attempted to write a novel and 4th grade by hand. In fact, I think she did write a novel longhand her mother bought her a word processor to like Anchorage her skill sheet also often read her mother and Brothers mystery and fiction novels. I’m seaaca often explorers societal Conformity and her novels whether these are

00:33:14 Play Store in on gender roles Parenthood or career expectations as we’ll see today. I’m convenience store woman is actually her 10th novel and the first to be translated in English in 2016 at our entire the prestigious I think it’s called akutagawa prize and she was named want to vote Japan’s women of the year and then it was translated in English 2 years later, I think in 2018 and until recently guess where she works. Something is a convenience store. Yes. Yep. She had toiled in convenience stores for like half her life because she loved the schedule it provided for her riding the rhythm of going to work having that break in between writing going to work coming back home and riding she likes bag have to go ahead and she would get motivation from the Shoppers and employees in the store. Those were the motivating realize personas.

00:34:14 Characters in her books. I’m even after becoming a best-selling author. She was working at a convenience store until obsessive fans like can have a pack of gum.

00:34:26 Rainbow shoes by I guess I got to quit. My job was kind of disappointed. I thought it was interesting the guardian did like a profile on her and they said I’m Keiko who is 36 a virgin and uninterested in the bougeoir lives of her married. Caicos the protagonist in our book today excels. I like the robotics service demanded by the industry’s manuals. And that’s that was a lot of Caicos character again was informed by the author’s real life. And so that’s what I have. She’s very happy and a simple life and she’s often probably now not so much cuz she’s a celebrated author, but perhaps people in the beginning were like, why do you have that job and you’re a writer? Yeah, you’ll never be successful and look at her now. She’s crazy successful.

00:35:26 Not much, but what I did learn is that she’s actually worked for convenience store for 20-years 20-years which that you’d and then I did a little research and to convenience store is so I didn’t you yeah, I’d like to know it was an import from the US I was at your convenience stores are in an American Import into Japan and the first import was the 7-Eleven and 1974 followed by a Lawson’s a 1975 and they do have some homegrowns and that I think they’re called familymart, but they started having them in 1974, but they’ve expanded on the idea. You can find everything you need at a convenience store.

00:36:26 Or your family. Yeah, you know and not and not like the hot dog that we have here or the fry bites. We had. They have home bills and you can provide for your family people rely on the convenience store is a very useful tool and the way it’s regulated and makes it at walkling spot to be so that’s the convenience store.

00:36:50 And I got to make a convenience store culture. And yeah, like I know Korea to yeah, they have awesome convenience store is actually a tourist destination convenience stores for our people. Yeah, that’s pretty cool. Anyway, thanks for sharing your commentary. Thank you for supplements. And let’s hear a brief synopsis without spoilers. This is for the 30 something that didn’t turn out exactly how mom and dad wanted you to be convenience store woman is the deadpan tale of one woman’s happy life and a simple occupation before she’s drawn to Confusion And even despair at the hands of Conformity obsessed friends family members and strangers. Will she find her way back or Will she end up a sandcastle washed away by the currents of conventionality for no reason, I threw like for Beyonce songs in there by noon if you can

00:37:49 So Alexis, what did horror your first thoughts? What did you first think of convenience store woman is so, you know, I got that notice that we were reading that book and let you know. I don’t really looking to book a whole lot before I read them like any information but I love the cover of the book. I am so the covered rumion cuz I think I might cover is like her idea answer idea how nice this is going to be a really clever book. So I look forward to reading it. So that’s

00:38:25 That’s your man right away about you. Carry. Who do you think would enjoy reading this book? I think if you like Joseph Gordon-Levitt movies, if you love to head pain and kind of dark humor, I think I said his name right? But anyway, if you love that style and like a dark humor that challenges the Norms of society fun stuff like that, then you’ll love this book.

00:38:53 Hey. Alright Corey. Well, are you ready to take a deep dive into convenience store woman filled with spoilers? I am I right. Let’s go. Okay spoiler alert. We’re going to spoil this book for you. Also. I haven’t read this book and my three or four months, so that’s how I remember part 1 a convenient clog in society a convenience store is a world of sound televisions plastic bottles Etc. A multitude of time is captivated by the sound smelled and duties of her job in the convenience store now little background her she was born into a loving family raised with love, but by the exact time that she was reborn as a convenience store worker is unclear in her mind. She doesn’t remember a time when her regular life ended at her convenience store life began if she does however, remember a time in Nursery School when children were surrounding a dead bird in the park sheep.

00:39:53 After bird and ran to her mother and asked if they could eat it.

00:40:00 I’m trying to give you some background. Who’s she is. Okay. She was like why you looking at this damn it? We can eat this another time still school-age. She stopped two boys from fighting by knocking one of them over the head with a shovel her teachers and peers were horrified and she was like what we wanted them to stop and now they stop so as far as she could tell she was the only one who successfully stop the fighting. She was proud of herself yet another time. She stops a teacher who was talking wildly reprimanding the class by pulling down the woman’s skirts and makers in front of everyone.

00:40:43 So all she can see is the problem and how to solve it quickly. She is a woman without Nuance. I’m the teacher was so shocked by the way that she burst into tears and Caicos like another successful Mission babies episodes her parents still love her but she decides to stop speaking when possible cuz she notices that you know, her parents and her sister are hurt I whenever she does anything and so she’s like, well, I’m just going to make myself small and not hurt anybody yet. They don’t have the same reaction that she expects appreciation a dead bird. I found food for the family. This woman won’t stop screaming at the class. I got her to stop these boys won’t stop fighting. Now. One of them is like, you know barely conscious, but they’re done fighting. Yay.

00:41:35 Yeah, this I saw her parents do still love her. They did take her to a psychiatrist who advised them to just continue loving that weird little child. And so they did our protagonist having successfully grown to adulthood assume that she was cured from whatever malady she suffered. So how it started her life as a convenience store worker. She saw an ad for new convenience store workers needed and she answered she was hired on the Spot while still at University. This was the first place to teach her normal human facial expressions, which she copied expertly so if it were her boss would like smile and greet the customers she would smile and greet the customer and she saw her co-worker tilting her head to the side and touching her chin before answering a question. Then Keiko would do the same thing. Okay. She was commended frequently by the manager. Like wow, you show a lot of initiative and then she would copy the manager specialist.

00:42:35 Crescent and say thank you very much, you know stuff like that for the first time. She felt like a normal clog in the machine of society and that’s all she ever wanted and he like that’s how it started. How’s it going? She’s 36 now. She’s been there for 18 years and the store is now and it’s 8 manager. The cake has been there all along. None of the employees are Goods that were there when she started remain it’s like the store also has been reborn as she finds poetry in that that she’s remained the same and everything around her changes her parents indulgently. Look on while she remains happily in a dead-end job according to them and I want time she even began mindlessly filling out job applications just to appease them. I’m at the shop is the only way she can be a normal person in her mind and normal clogged in society currently guide for how to be a normal person is the convenience store worker guy.

00:43:35 Like the handbook for new employees. She use that to function through life everything. She eats is from the convenience store. So it’s like really a part of her there is no separation between her and the store is as if she’s as much a part of the store as the magazine racks and because the products in the store always changing or being replenished. She’s also always change even if she stays the same as we said, okay. So now you get how close Keiko is to this convenience store? Okay heart to a convenient counterfeit.

00:44:12 When not at the store arcaico makes genuine efforts to be a normal or cured person graduated from her oddness. Of course, she did make friends while in school cuz remember she was bashing people over to head and pulling down teachers knickers.

00:44:29 But after attending an alumni meeting she connected with mijo me. How is normal? Yes, please say that me how her old classmate who she hangs out with some time. Now enjoys Friends shopping and hosting parties for her friends at the second hand house. She owns with her husband. I thought that was a funny way to describe a house. Can you get second hand house? I’m Keiko attends each party’s on her days off to practice the speech patterns and behaviors of mijo and Mija spreads. So she matches their inflections enthusiasm about meaningless things and interest in the business of others don’t care about none of this. None of it ever going to be cured in the minds of the people. She loves she’s got to pretend so she’s learning how to return here on business on business to do in my opinion. It’s just like the truth and All of Us 2

00:45:29 Really care about other people’s business that we should care about the meaningless things we talked about know which is trying to be normal like we’re supposed to care about this. So let’s talk about it. We don’t care. She also screams out and unpredictable intervals like a leftover of convenience tour life where one is always greeted new customers. So if someone walked into the party like if I’m at a party in Alexis walks in and I’m cake a thank you for coming to the party.

00:46:01 Alexis is like. Okay girl. Also, can you purposely duplicate the speech patterns, but they all copy the speech patterns of those they associate with so she’s not a counterfeit as much as they all are done. We all talk like the people in our lives. I think it is. Yeah the longer we socialize with them. Yeah. We had that there are speech I can think about when you and our schedules sometimes I’m listen to the sound like a p sometimes. I feel I also just like AAP right there or at sounds just like another friend. I got ya and we can we play with you guys. So just like a CO, you know

00:46:52 But Caicos doing it on purpose we do it mindlessly, you know, who’s the kind of fit in that situation? I love the way she explained speech patterns in the book. It’s like an infection that spreads from person to person take us study this group of normals and discovered a few things about them. By the way. First of all, the single humans seem only to be accepted if they’re in the process of finding a mate or are on hold for an acceptable job. She has done neither number to those who have made it are only accepted if they have bread or it are in the process of trying to reproduce Offspring. So she’s like studying people like a scientist would study tagged monkeys in the forest. It amazes Keiko that people would rather she be unhappy in a relationship which they could understand then live a happy life as a convenience store worker which they

00:47:52 Never understand her happiness, then was not their concern. But how well she fit into the Norms of society. It was when together they stop being useful clogs and society and started being males and females.

00:48:05 Like just a species. They’re not useful there just males and females and everything. They think about Hindu is based on that gender-role and aspires to be useful. She and she is all she wants to do is be useful. That’s why she hit that little boy over to shop hair with a shovel. That’s why she brought that dead birds and her mom and that’s why she pull down that teachers pass. She wanted to be useful in the moment and trading member of society. They’re insistent by questioning. I with excuses hand it to her by her sister Mommy. So mommy really loves her. I think older sister Keiko is

00:48:50 I think so the older sister of the younger yesterday. So I don’t know but when they ask you this say this because she wants to go to be happy and she can’t imagine mommy. Is it Mijo?

00:49:07 Not me. Who’s the friend but mommy’s the sister at her name is Mommy. Yeah, it made am I? Okay. So her sister mommy hands her these like excuses to give to me home and he has friends and to everyone really who asked her for example excuses like I’m weak and and perhaps hand out of a chronic condition. And and so that’s why I can’t work and I have to work in a convenience store and then people are like oh oh, oh you’re weak. Yes. Yes. I was in a relationship, but I’m not a good judge of men and the people I like. Oh, yes, I can understand that all wow. Yes. Absolutely.

00:49:51 Speaking of her sister Keiko sister. Mommy has always been kind to her. Even when they were little and her sisters. Mine Keiko is being rehabilitated. She just needs time to be cured. It’s mommy’s hope that one day her sister will be normal like truly normal and Mommy recently had a baby. So kick her fix herself how her nephew is an animal no different than any other animal mean while Mommy’s light Hyundai caco-2 will have a baby in a husband and a second-hand house and then going to see my friends baby is the same as in your favorite different a baby is a baby. For a why do I have to see your baby? I just thought mijos baby yesterday hilarious. Sorry. I’m kind of like cake on that until they get about three or four. They’re all the same when they can talk back and have a thought.

00:50:47 That’s when I get into the be at that time. Please come back when you can 4 / 3 a convenient companion enter shiraha a new hire at the convenience store. He’s lazy. He’s hottie. He’s always late. He’s on his phone all the time. He lacks initiative and a sharp contrast to Keiko who approaches each task with heartfelt enthusiasm. But saraha is not without his beliefs mainly convenience store work is for women who buy designed our program to keep up the home while the men look for food to this cake over towards this is the 21st century in the store. We are men and women were workers.

00:51:36 Play wacky doe got her lose to okay. Don’t mess with cake. And one day the managers are discussing. Sure I have why did he even take this job? They only hired him by the way because they were short-staffed. What’s in there looking at him. Like why did you accept you hate it here and you’re useless by the way. She is 35. So the managers are like obviously he took a job at a convenience store because he’s a dead the Ender a burden on society. He couldn’t get any other job until they’re real to society either through work or family and then they’ll look at kcon be like hoping that you would have come cuz your weed

00:52:17 Because an exception they say she has some vague physical condition that makes her 2 weeks for any other job.

00:52:29 I need this is how we always think people are weird job to be below him and he says so openly and often Caicos used to hearing people put down convenience store work and she responds to all the criticism in the same way. When you work in a convenience store people often look down on you for working there. I find this fascinating and I like to look them in the face when they do this to me and as I do so, I always think that’s what human is and sometimes even those who are doing the same job or bias against it before I knew what I was doing. I look sure I had in the face. I find the shape of people’s eyes particularly interesting when they’re being condescending. I see you wearing this for fear of being contradicted or sometimes the belligerents park ready to jump on any attack and if they’re unaware of being condescending their glazed over eyeballs are steeped in a fluid mix up.

00:53:29 Text to speak in a sense of superiority. I looked into Cheryl has eyes there. I saw only Prejudice and its simplest form as I sensing my Gaze on him. He opens his mouth to speak revealing the yellow roots of teeth that were black in places. He obviously hadn’t been to the dentist for a long time. So it’s heated throw his weight around. Anyway, he went on his only employs more store like this. Basically a loser. Isn’t he? He spoke useless they were harsh words, but he murdered them so quietly. I somehow didn’t get the feeling. He really was all that angry somewhere. I said there were two types of prejudiced people are Prejudiced and those who I’m thinking Lyra Peter The Barrage of slurs, they’d heard somewhere up here to the ladder be carried on muttering at speed now and then fumbling his words. Everyone here is a stupid. Loser. It’s the same in any convenience store. You only find Housewives you can’t get by there.

00:54:29 Lesbian salary job Hoppers without plans for the future and the crappiest students who can’t get better jobs like being at home tutor for Foreigner who send money home losers. I see he really was just like me better than words that sound of humans were really wasn’t saying anything at all, but he sure did seem to like the word for loser get used it several times and no time at all. I would Courthouse segarra had said Shrek is me the creeps, especially the way he’s so is that that sprouting excuses when what he really wants is to slack off or not it in a simple question occurred to me. So I put it to him to come to work. Here’s your marriage hunting. He said as if it were no big deal, is only here to find a wife to support him while he starts his online business the problem with women. He reasons is that their brains are prehistoric and they only go for men that appear to be the biggest and the strongest

00:55:28 So women are the problem not me. That’s how he feels. So anyway, he’s fired.

00:55:35 Because he starts talking one of the women who shops in the store. He’s also got kind of darky eyes. He copies her phone number and tries to find out where she lives reaping and sowing the manager finds out. He fire sure I have it comes out that he’s tried to get with all the employees or employees are like he and he tried to get my number. He’s everybody’s okay, the married one even the message but nothing made him ever talk to can’t go like that. Okay. So after finding success with not finding success with everyone except he moved on to the customers are relieved when he’s gone, and we’re laughing but for real co-worker like that would be like kind of terrifying.

00:56:30 Yep, so and Caicos mine all the employees. Look at sure. I had as if he’s a foreign object and they’re so happy to be rid of him. And so she thinks if I ever become a foreign object will be happy to be rid of me to tell if a cat is a ThinkPad at a barbecue IV host the next day an old classmate begins catching up. She says things like only two in attendance arcaico. I realize is that only two in attendance aren’t married one being Keiko the other Whispers to Keiko. We’re the only ones here who can’t hold our heads up high take a flight. Okay, right. All right. Let me practice your face. Oh, yes. I am ashamed. I’m single and you know making money in a simple job.

00:57:30 Jobs, and I’m living and Yokohama. I’m at a fashion accessories. First one responds. I’ve got married. Another says I’m on maternity leave says another and then I was Caicos her. I’m working part time at a convenience store.

00:57:46 Someone asked before she can finish if you’re too weak for a real job. How do you work at the convenience store when you constantly have to be on your feet? Why aren’t you married? What’s really going on with you?

00:58:03 Speaking. I think this is like me whose husband as he speaking spittle is flying onto the meat from his mouth. And that’s all I can think about. Why do you spend all over? No food after me about my business over the food talking and spare.

00:58:26 Any other experience and the store is comfortable for me both physically and mentally that’s closer to the truth. This response though is unacceptable to the friends in attendance. They decide she must sign up for a dating app. She must be desperate they decide they started looking at her as if she’s a foreign object as they digest the spit soaked me.

00:58:51 Play home, even though it’s her day off. She checked in on the store. You know, she just want to make sure the store. Okay will let us know when she leaves she see sherihan waiting outside. He’s waiting for the woman customer. He’s stalking you guys. I told you he’s kind of diet can be really creepy if he takes a fancy to a certain woman. He’ll make her or his he says we’re only laughing in the context of the book. Okay, nothing has changed since the Stone Age then he starts to cry. Did y’all hear me? Then? He starts to cry cuz Caicos like approached him like you want to get out of here. You wrote in the facade of the convenience store and I just can’t have that far is the lease on YouTube. It’s a he starts to cry and Caicos like, oh no customers are going to see you cry and then they’re going to come into the convenience store for real life.

00:59:51 Yeah, let’s all that’s right. Let’s sit on the bench and he’s letting probably think it cares about, you know, my thoughts. Let me pour out my heart me while she just trying to get them away from the convenience store. So he don’t scare away customers. So he’s pouring out his heart. He feels raped by Society because they’re always questioning if he’s ever been sexually active. Why hasn’t he got married? Why doesn’t he have a job? Listen Keiko is like the irony you see yourself as a victim you comparing what you are potential rapists. And you feel Society is assaulting you, you know, he’s the victim with no concern for the anxiety. He’s called fee cost female workers and customers. He’s the victim. That’s how you feel.

01:00:47 I’m tired. Sure. I said I nodded I suppose it is unreasonable to feel that way. If you can get them to stop complaining just like getting married and that would be the simple and sensible thing to do with it. Don’t make it sound so easy. We men have it much harder than women, you know, if you’re not yet a fully-fledged member of society than its get a job. And if you got a job at the earn more money and you earn more money and get married and have Offspring Society is continually judging us together with women. You won’t have a cushy time of it. He said solemnly well then marriage won’t solve anything then Willie I said, I didn’t answer and carried on talking heatedly. I read history books trying to find out what’s a siding with so wrong. But however far back I went a hundred years 200 years a thousand years.

01:01:35 Always wrong, even if you go back as far as the Stone Age his fist on the table still in jasmine tea from his cup. And so I realized this Society hasn’t changed one bit people who don’t fit into the village are expelled men who don’t hunt women who don’t give birth to children for all we talk about modern society and individualism anyone who doesn’t try to fit in can expect to be metal with coerced and ultimately banished from the village sure. You do like talking about the Stone Age don’t you know, I don’t like it. I hate it but we live in a world that is basically the Stone Age with a veneer of contemporary Society, you know strong men who bring home a good catch have women flocking around them and they marry the prettiest girls in the village men who don’t join in the hunt or who are too weak to be of any use even if they try are despised. The setup hasn’t changed at all.

01:02:26 Oh, I finally managed to say but I couldn’t say he was completely wrong. It was probably the same as the convenience store where it was just us being continually replaced while the store remained the same unchanging seen this place really doesn’t ever change. Does it the words of the old lady in the store? I go to my head. Hookah. How can you be so unfazed by it? All aren’t you ashamed of yourself? But you’re still in a dead-end job at your age and nobody’s going to want to marry an old maid like you now you like second-hand good. Even if you are a virgin your grubby you like a stone age woman past child-bearing age who can’t get married and is left to just hang around the village of no use to anyone just a burden on a man so I can still make a comeback but there’s no hope for you is there if all you want is a marriage of convenience? Why not? Marry me Keiko proposes

01:03:18 This is her reasoning you guys. Obviously saraha wants to be an acceptable member of society as does Keiko more and more often. People are open openingly questioning her normality. Is that a word? I hope so and she sees this as grounds for removal from the convenience store eventually because they’re going to see her the foreign object. She don’t want to have to comply right cuz she loves the convenience store. Sharaha is like you why would I marry you but okay I’ll marry you or not. I’ll marry I’ll come live with you with them. Yeah live with her. She can provide for herself and meanwhile, he living with his family getting kicked out and on rent, but he ain’t saying I will try it out I guess cuz you

01:04:18 That’s really be desperate over here outside crying care though. Never mind is what it is. What’s inside of the Four Walls of her apartment. She realizes he smelt, you know, like someone without a home and she makes him shower while he’s washing she called her sister and casually mentions that there’s a man in her apartment. Her sister is a static. It’s like she can finally She’s Been Waiting to Exhale and her sister. Mommy is like there’s a man and your apartment Keiko. I’ve been waiting for this. So anyway, her sister is thrilled Caicos finally becoming normal. She thinks and she must be thinking about getting married in her apartment her sisters already making wedding plans.

01:05:18 Add a pet, you know, this is going to be great. So she makes a little bad for her I have for real. She’s like, let me go get you some feed and I’ll make this little bad for you on the floor.

01:05:33 Cuz you know she’s got a way to take a returns home from work the next day it sure I had informed her that his presence is for her benefit is probably useless and she likes the physical appearance to appeal to anyone’s carnal appetites. It’s better for a washed-up virgin to Virgin to have a man in her home then go on living without will still look down on her for harboring a popper. But at least they’ll understand it. What does he want in return? She must hide him from society. He never wants to leave her cockroach-infested apartment. Now, we haven’t talked about this a lot, but it’s also full of roaches and stuff. It’s like really shabby and she’s fine with that. So, let’s me why she gives him a plate of boiled vegetables to eat.

01:06:24 Why cuz that’s what she okay. She’s going to give her a pet. Nothing less than what she’s so he’s disgusted but she’s like I only boil these vegetables to make them more digestible for my body. This is what I eat. I kind of sensed that I was taking in a fraud when I let that I have come to live with me but his predictions turned out to be surprisingly accurate. It was convenient to have him around it didn’t take long for me to be convinced after my sister. The next time I mentioned him to anyone was at a gathering at mijos place. We were all sitting around eating cake when I casually Let It Drop that he was living with me. They were all so ecstatic about it that I even had to wonder brother. They’ve lost their minds. Wait what?

01:07:09 What do you like? Wow, that’s amazing. I was so worried about what would become of Yukiko. I really so please for you. Thank you. I said simply feeling a bit weirded out by how jubilant they all were about him.

01:07:28 Do anyting. He did say he had a dream to set up his own business but it seems to have all been talked just lost about at home. They are looking for it. Suddenly serious. I like that but they tend to be kinder and more sincere and Charming right my friend fell in love with a guy like that. Although I can’t say what’s so good about him myself a friend of mine on the rebound from an affair got involved with the guy who used to live off her if he done some housework you can at least have said he was like a housewife but he never even looked it up finger, but is that a to completely change when she got pregnant and now they look really happy. Yeah absolutely getting pregnant is the best thing to do with that kind of man. Everyone seems happier than when I told them I’d never been in love and they were carrying on as if they knew everything about my situation the previous me would never fall in love or had sex with never had a proper job had some time.

01:08:28 Hard to read but everything about the new me the one who has to die High living with her was clear even my future. So everyone has created a story for Keiko and this new guy that fits into the realm of their understanding. She was no longer an outsider. She didn’t have to say anything but this man is in my home and they created a whole story that she didn’t even have to contribute to all the details of the story and saving her co-workers. Who hello, they fired him cuz he was like a soccer. OK KO tells our co-workers of Ashura and even though he asked that she keep his presence a secret. She can’t help it. She wants to show them that she’s calling code normal. It’s in the way that he she wasn’t for the sale, but they had some of his belongings at work and she offered to take him home then you got your right. Yeah. That’s right. She’s not trying to show off. Mascara. She’s just like, oh you’re right.

01:09:28 Seems like he live with me so I can take his stuff and they’re like what now, they hate this guy, but they are thrilled for them both as a couple.

01:09:38 The early bird takes me back to thank you for the last what’s the name of this when she was like, oh, he’s the best ever you going to marry him. He’s the greatest persuasion. Oh, yeah, he’s great when she found out her friend when we are suicidal great cuz he’s terrible terrible. But you guys are together. I know you’re both gray. And then they tell Keiko come out for drinks with us. Apparently, they’re always going out for drinks together. They’re always hanging out together has been there for 18 years and she had no idea they never lie.

01:10:26 SO2 Caicos horror they all abandon their duties to the store in order to discuss her new coupledom. So in her head, she’s like hey Phillip, I’m greet the customer. Why are y’all talkin to me about? Saraha? Okay. Well, why is this happening the store? So she’s the only one that can that truly cares about the store she decides when she returns counter high sitting in the tub. He was in the closet, but it’s full of bugs excited to sit in the tub thinking about he’s decided to be a parasite. Okay, go where he finds out that Caicos tell people about him he fears that the masses will drag him out of the apartment to lecture him telling him to get a job get married have babies and he’s like really sad about this while he’s eating this Bland boiled veggie plate that take out has handed him on Sunday. Mommy the sister pops by

01:11:26 She’s never done that before. She pops by she wants to offer advice to Keiko and meet the new bow, but where is he? She asked PECO boil some vegetables and put them in the tub and comes out of the bathroom and says, oh he’s in the bath. I keep him in there. It’s too cramped if we’re both in here. So I keep him in the bathtub and he gives me pocket change for his feed. This is like echo says her sister with him with him here. Everyone has stop poking their nose in my business, isn’t that great, but he’s useful. Mommy is heartbroken. She never dreamed her sister will be living like this. Yeah. She’s devastated for my let’s go back to a counselor. She pleads I’ll do whatever you say, but what should I do to be normal? Ask Keiko? I don’t know any anymore anymore.

01:12:26 Mommy respond. I don’t know how you ever going to be. This is like a turning point in Mommy and Caicos relationship in an instant cuz mommy’s like oh no. Oh, no. But suddenly you guys Ciroc comes out of the bathroom. He provides mommy with a perfect excuse. He went for a drink with an ex-girlfriend Keiko got mad and won’t let him sleep with her. Mommy is like

01:13:00 See-through. Yeah, I’m mad at you young man, but you know.

01:13:11 He said this is how she feels she’s smiling at she scolds him for some supposed infidelity. I’m here shares her that he and caico are planning to get married and Mommy’s life. Who what a world where I got to go home to my baby. But I’m glad we ended like this thing is right. Okay, and then sure I have sister-in-law shows up one day. She’s been tracking him using an app that her husband programs onto his phone. He owes them money. He owes the money.

01:13:48 Keiko said let me just ask you do you think it’s do you think it’s a good idea if we you know did a thing that take always trying to be normal? So she asked a sarahah sister-in-law. Should we have children? And this is a quote. I have to repeat the sister-in-law says

01:14:12 sister-in-laws says

01:14:20 Tell your camera cuz you ain’t going to let me get through. This sister. Love says keep those riding jeans.

01:14:40 Dream with you till you die without leaving a trace of them here on Earth.

01:14:49 Yes, I keep those rotten things with you till you die without leaving a trace of them here on Earth has to take her jeans with her to the group and to dispose of them properly when she’s going to take us like Ghana is that what Society wants for me? I’ll take my jeans with me to the Grave.

01:15:10 Okay. Sure. I have says Caicos looking for a real job to support him so that he can start his internet business. This is news to Keiko. But that’s what you were saying to a sister-in-law tells her supervisor. She’s leaving the convenience store because you know, I guess I got to find a real job. So he was trying to give this Rose to his sister. I’m sorry. He was trying to get this bruise to his sister were ya Caicos going to leave her job and she’s going to look for another job and we’re going to be quite successful people. It’s okay. She’s going to leave that to me. I am looking for 18 years or so only place that gives her happiness in life and makes her feel normal and she tells her supervisor. I’m so sorry, but I guess I’m leaving his responses.

01:16:07 I’m so happy for you. Obviously sure. I have something up like a man. Yay.

01:16:17 They even give her a set of Chopsticks as a wedding gift. She will be quickly replaced. She thinks she’s been at 18 years. Yeah, it’s hot like a store manager. She’s never tried to be a store manager. It seems she’s happy with her place in the store. But meanwhile everyone else is like when are you going to get a life? So when she quits they are so happy for her now for our final part part for a convenience Chasm. The store has dictated every aspect of Caicos life for 18 years when she slapped when she ate a why she woke up in the morning without it. She didn’t know what standard to live by and she grows like even a faint mustache after the convenience store helped her secure an interview for a respectable job quote on quote to support them on their way to the interview cake owasp. I guess what?

01:17:13 A convenience store. She’s wearing her business suit for her respectable job interview with she can’t help but walking into the convenience store when she walks in to use the restroom. So she like gingerly walks in and followed him into the store and immediately knows what the store needs. She sees a rack that needs to be filled. She sees an eye on that needs to be straightened up and she starts to get to work via employee see her and her business suit rearranging things and assume she’s from corporate and this is where I become like her friends and family cuz I’m like, why don’t you go get a job at corporate Caicos?

01:17:52 c u c

01:17:54 but she even starts responding positively like to the customers and she is sis employees who assume again that she’s from the corporate office. She’s re-found her place when she walks out of the bathroom and sees her he dragged her out of that convenience store and onto the street and you know what she does she dumps him. Yay. She also dumped me because she’s why I’m not trying to get a real job. I’m going back to the convenience store life in the same role. I’ve had for 18 years no matter what Society thinks.

01:18:27 And that’s it the end.

01:18:49 And we’re back. I like this. What did you think of the convenience store Woman by sayaka murata?

01:18:57 What’s your verdict? Would you recommend it recommended book? Let me start by saying that I enjoyed it immensely. I love.

01:19:07 Keo at the character she’s just very it’s just what it is. Okay. This is a fact. Okay. She is she expires to be useful to society who doesn’t want to be a contributing member of society and the world where you have all these societal norms.

01:19:32 That people expect you to meet she just wants to be a contributing member of society. And who is she hurting? Yes, I from that kid. She hit on the head with a shovel or whose are cheaper down tributing member as the side. So I like this book. I think people should read it. It’s a great book. It talks about these Norms that people put on you and we feel compelled to live up to them. But I’m still fine the way I am sure she didn’t seem like she tried their way try to do it their way and it didn’t work for her to work for her. So yes, I will read the book. I would recommend the book. I enjoyed it immensely.

01:20:32 Laughter with tears throughout okay. I enjoyed it. How about you carry? Would you recommend this book? Would you read it again? I love the questions at this time. But I had me thinking about like for example, does that does our society accept ninfomania more than celibacy, you know celebrities who come out as suffering from a sex addition addiction versus those who call themselves born again virgin. How do we treat them? You know do teens feel more comfortable talking openly about their many sexual partners than they do emitting. They’ve never had sex. And is this pressure? He’s after reaching adulthood or does it now and then passed sex what are other societal norms and should we question them like the need to climb the corporate ladder performing performing a successful lifestyle in the end of the story at that cake. I would like finally become a manager but was I projecting my expect to lose on her and

01:21:32 Where did I get those expectations bro? I was glad she was like yes protect me back to the store me I could go. Okay, I resonated. Okay. Yeah, I love this. But do you know why are we so entertained by sociopaths when you speak alike and Psychopaths, like will you think of Hannibal Norman Bates? Even Sherlock Holmes is a weirdo. But yeah, what’s up with that? What’s up with the way Society thinks I won’t say us cuz we have an adopted all of these beliefs that the either carries but yeah, I love this book. I love the questions and made me think about it. And I thought it was hilarious. I I will compare it to you better save that better see if done without the crash, but she is a contributing member of society. Yes, it supposed to Ignatius.

01:22:32 Being the exact opposite and Confederacy. Yeah, and I like her I like her and I know she would never need to like me cuz she wouldn’t see me as useful.

01:22:44 Marketing, that’s what you do.

01:22:47 And yeah, I’ve been compared to her job where she’s actually giving people that means to feed their family on a daily basis making them feel good. You know, that’s a useful job. So yeah, I love this book highly recommend five stars. All right, then. What are we reading next week? The book a reading next week is Salt Fat acid heat mastering the elements of good cooking by samin. Nosrat. Yes cannot wait at it’s going to be exciting to dig into. Well, thank you.
